UPDATE: Please submit objections by the 16th May
There is a proposed new development on Land South Of Warton Recreation Ground (the link will open in a new tab). This is the proposal that we alerted residents to that is being developed by Richborough Developments adjacent to Red Marl Way.
We need residents to register their objections as soon as possible. This can be done by commenting on the application that is linked above. Numbers matter, and a strong, united response from our community can influence the decision-making process.
While objections can be based on any material consideration we suggest the following as part of your objections
Suggested Grounds for Objection:
Increased Traffic: Our roads are already congested, and this development would bring a marked increase in traffic, raising concerns about safety, congestion, and environmental impact.
Overdevelopment: Warton has seen several developments in recent years. Further expansion is excessive and contradicts the aims of managed, sustainable growth.
Lack of Infrastructure: Local services are already stretched. Schools are at capacity, GP surgeries face long waits, and public transport options are limited (you can not access the GP surgery through public transport). This development would place additional strain on these essential services.
Change to Village Character: This development would significantly alter the character of our village. Large-scale building risks turning a distinct rural community into a suburban sprawl.
Outside Village Boundary: The proposed site lies outside the village boundary defined in the recently adopted Neighbourhood Plan. This development contravenes the principles set out in the Neighbourhood Plan and undermines local planning controls that were voted on in the public referendum.
What Next?
Let us know once you’ve objected – we are keeping track of numbers and aiming to demonstrate clear and coordinated opposition (email Warton.Residents@gmail.com.)
We are working to organise public meeting as soon as possible to keep everyone informed and mobilised.
